Everyone loves an outdoor fire.  There is something both beautiful and primitive about being out in the dark night air huddled around a warm and beckoning fire.  Unfortunately most of us can not have a fireplace built to our own specification in each of our yards.  Fortunately, however, there is a way some of us can get around that limitation.  There are numerous pre built manufactured fire pits (like the own shown to the right) that are readily available and easy to set up.  The only thing you need is enough space to use it safely and then also to make sure you are not in violation of any local ordinances.  Once those two criteria is met the fire pit is a wide open option for your home.

One popular choice are the terra cotta chimeas which are easy to find and are very affordable.  The are made of a clay pot within a metal stand and normally range from two to 6 feet tall.  They can be used on balconies or small patios and the large sizes will also work well for larger spaces. 

Additional manufactured options include rectangular, round  or square wood burning metal framed stoves or wok looking open fire pits.  These are all portable type models that can be moved easily from place to place.  You can find them with either wood framed masonry for traditional wood burning  applications or with stainless steel components for those using other fuels.   There are  some made with gas or oil or gel used as fuel.  The fuel makes them easy to light, easy to use with little or no mess to clean up afterwards.  They are available in so many stylish designs people have really enjoyed using them.
